Large Format Working Lead Operator
Sir Speedy Statesville is looking for a Large Format Working Lead Operator to join our production team. This position reports directly to the Production Manager and plays a key role in keeping large format production moving smoothly, accurately, and on schedule.
This is not a desk-only supervisor role. We need someone who can work hands-on in production every day while also helping keep jobs moving, quality on track, and the team focused.
The right person will have strong large format production experience, good attention to detail, and the ability to lead by example. You will be working alongside the team on printers, cutters, finishing, and installation prep while also helping manage workflow, priorities, and quality checks throughout the department.
What You’ll Do
Operate and assist with large format production equipment, including flatbed printing, roll-to-roll printing, cutting, laminating, mounting, trimming, and finishing.
Help keep jobs moving through the department in the correct priority order.
Review job tickets, artwork notes, materials, quantities, ship-to information, and finishing requirements before production begins.
Perform quality control checks throughout the production process, not just at the end.
Catch issues before they become reprints, delays, or customer problems.
Work closely with customer service, design, production, shipping, installation, and management to make sure job details are clear.
Help coordinate daily workload for the large format team.
Make sure completed jobs are accurate, clean, packed properly, labeled correctly, and ready for pickup, delivery, shipping, or install.
Help train and support team members on equipment, procedures, quality standards, and best practices.
Keep the work area organized, safe, and ready for the next job.
Communicate equipment issues, material shortages, job concerns, or production delays quickly to the Production Manager.
Lead by example with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to jump in wherever needed.
What We’re Looking For
Experience in large format print production is required.
Experience with flatbed printing, roll printing, cutting, laminating, mounting, and finishing is strongly preferred.
Ability to read and understand job tickets, measurements, production notes, ship-to details, and finishing instructions.
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
Ability to spot problems before they leave the department.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well with different departments.
A hands-on leader who is willing to work beside the team, not just direct from the sidelines.
Ability to stay organized and keep others moving without creating drama or confusion.
Basic computer skills and the ability to learn production software and job tracking systems.
Must be dependable, on time, and able to follow through.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift, carry, and move materials as needed.
Comfortable working with large sheets, rolls, boards, signs, banners, displays, decals, and other large format products.
Ability to use basic shop tools, production equipment, and finishing tools safely.
