The Print Production and Bindery Specialist ensures the smooth operation of our print center’s workflow, focusing on digital press operation and bindery/finishing tasks. This role demands exceptional attention to detail, commitment to quality output, and efficient time management. The specialist supports the customer service and sales teams, collaborating across departments to meet deadlines and exceed customer expectations.
- Digital Press Production:
- Operate and maintain digital printing presses for high-quality output.
- Perform routine press maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Monitor print jobs for quality, color accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve print issues efficiently.
- Bindery and Finishing:
- Operate bindery and finishing equipment, including cutting, folding, binding, laminating, etc.
- Ensure finished products meet quality standards for delivery.
- Conduct regular maintenance and calibration of bindery equipment.
- Workflow Support:
- Collaborate with the production team to prioritize jobs and meet deadlines.
- Work closely with customer service and sales teams to address production needs and resolve issues.
- Provide cross-departmental support for smooth job progression.
- Quality Assurance:
- Conduct quality checks at every stage of production to ensure products meet or exceed client expectations.
- Identify and address defects or issues promptly to minimize rework and waste.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve production and bindery workflows, reducing turnaround times and increasing efficiency.
- Provide input on equipment upgrades or process changes to support growing production demands.
- Customer Interaction (As Needed):
- Occasionally assist with customer inquiries and provide recommendations on production capabilities and finishing options.
- Work with the sales team to suggest cost-effective production solutions that align with client needs.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in digital print production and/or bindery operations.
- Familiarity with digital presses and finishing equipment.
- Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of digital printing processes and bindery techniques.
- Knowledge of paper types, finishing options, and production best practices.
- Skills:
- Exceptional attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Proficiency with production software and tools (e.g., Fiery Command WorkStation, imposition software).
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Dependable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Team-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working with production equipment and performing repetitive tasks.
This is an on-site position in a dynamic print production environment, requiring flexibility to meet changing production schedules and deadlines.
